24shore, a member of the XELLZ Group, has been shortlisted for the Green World 2025 Breakbulk Award, recognizing its patented ReelFrame transport system for high-voltage (HV) cable reels.
The announcement comes ahead of Breakbulk Europe 2025, set to take place from May 13 to 15 at the Ahoy Convention Centre in Rotterdam. The Green World Award, hosted by Breakbulk Events & Media, celebrates logistics innovations that support sustainability in heavy and project cargo transport. The winner will be revealed during the event’s welcome reception on May 13.
ReelFrame stands out for its crane-free approach to loading and unloading HV cable reels, offering a tangible shift from traditional methods that rely heavily on trailers and on-site cranes. These conventional setups often lead to trucks and lifting equipment idling on location for extended periods—burning fuel, generating emissions, and inflating labor costs.
Instead, 24shore’s ReelFrame system drastically cuts turnaround time. By enabling quicker handling and minimal equipment usage, trailers and trucks are free to return to operations faster, boosting overall fleet utilization and reducing environmental impact. According to company data, the system slashes CO₂ emissions from HV cable transport by over 45%.
But efficiency isn’t the only gain. The system supports cable reels that hold up to 2 kilometers of HV cable. Fewer reels mean fewer joint bays during installation, which in turn leads to less future maintenance and a more reliable electrical grid—a key advantage for energy infrastructure projects pushing toward net-zero goals.
“This nomination is an important milestone for 24shore and a clear signal that the industry is ready for smarter, more sustainable transport,” said Mr. Bouwhuis, Managing Director at 24shore. “The recognition at Breakbulk Europe, one of the leading platforms for project cargo and breakbulk logistics, validates the growing demand for logistics solutions that align with both operational goals and climate responsibilities.”
The Green World 2025 Breakbulk Award aims to spotlight actionable technologies that contribute to measurable environmental progress across maritime, energy, and cargo sectors. For 24shore, the nomination adds weight to its growing international profile, as interest in ReelFrame continues to rise among energy developers, logistics firms, and infrastructure stakeholders.
The upcoming award ceremony in Rotterdam is expected to draw a wide range of industry leaders, providing further visibility for shortlisted innovations that are shaping the next phase of sustainable heavy-lift and breakbulk logistics.
