A loaded general cargo vessel sinks in Bahamas waters

According to Fleetmon, the general cargo vessel M.V. Onego Traveller sank off the Hole in the Wall Lighthouse in the Bahamas three days before New Year’s Day after hitting a reef or the bottom. The latest updates indicate that the vessel has been sinking since 25 December 2022. The ship was en route from Finland to New Orleans, carrying a cargo of steel. Local sources indicated that a broken hull was the cause of the incident, but it is still under investigation. The ship had 12 crew members who have abandoned ship and are all safe.
