AAL Ships Replacement Bridge Structure

Project cargo and heavy-lift operator AAL has transported and discharged a replacement structure for the Johnson Street Bridge in Victoria, British Columbia.

The bridge section measured 43 meters long and forms the largest component in the biggest single-leaf bascule bridge in Canada. It was transported aboard the A-Class vessel, the AAL Singapore in partnership with freight forwarder, Deugro.

“Our A-Class was the perfect partner for this very challengingly shaped cargo that presented a number of demands in terms of engineering, crane capacity and overall deck space requirement,” said Tanya Britton, AAL’s chief representative for AAL In Canada.

AAL is a member of Cypriot investment group Schoeller Holdings and operates a specialist multipurpose fleet with heavy-lift capabilities of up to 700 tonnes. The company provides breakbulk, heavy-lift and project cargo services worldwide to the energy, oil and gas, mining, forestry, leisure, agriculture and construction sectors.
