Aguado Group, a Spanish heavy lifting and transport specialist, has announced the acquisition of the Liebherr LR 1700-1.0W narrow-track crawler crane, marking a significant step in the company’s ongoing fleet modernization program. This 700-tonne powerhouse is now the most advanced and robust narrow-track crane in their lineup, reflecting Aguado’s commitment to meeting the growing demands of its clients with innovative and high-performance machinery.
The Liebherr LR 1700-1.0W stands out for its exceptional versatility, efficient transport options, and advanced engineering, making it a standout choice for projects requiring heavy lifting. Designed with state-of-the-art variable boom systems and optimized dimensions, this crane ensures both operational flexibility and cost efficiency.
Mario Aguado, head of Aguado Group’s wind power division, highlighted the crane’s advantages: “The LR 1700-1.0W is incredibly versatile, easy to mobilize, and significantly more powerful than its predecessor, the LR 1600/2W. This acquisition reflects our ongoing focus on modernizing our fleet with the latest technology to best serve our clients’ needs.”
A Commitment to Excellence and Modernization
The addition of the LR 1700-1.0W aligns with Aguado’s strategic investment in innovation, underscoring their mission to consistently deliver top-tier service. “Having this crane, alongside other Liebherr models like the LG 1750 and LR 11000, reaffirms our dedication to providing the highest quality standards in the industry,” Aguado noted.
Liebherr’s narrow-track LR 1700-1.0W, launched in early 2024, was purpose-built for wind power applications. It boasts enhanced stability thanks to 3.5-meter-wide H-lattice boom sections in the lower main boom, allowing it to handle greater load capacities and achieve higher hub heights. For added versatility, the LR 1700-1.0W also comes with a luffing jib—an option unavailable in its predecessor, the LR 1600/2W.
Debut Deployment at Cascante Wind Farm
The LR 1700-1.0W has already proven its worth at the Cascante wind farm in Navarra, where it is assembling eight wind turbines with hub heights of 119 meters. Impressively, this crane operates well below its maximum capacity, as it is capable of handling modern turbine assemblies with hub heights of up to 170 meters. This positions it as a critical asset for the growing renewable energy sector.
Aguado’s extensive Liebherr fleet underscores the strong partnership between the two companies. With models like the LR 1600/2, LR 1600/2W, LR 11000, and the LG 1750 lattice boom crane, Aguado is well-equipped to handle a variety of large-scale, high-tonnage projects. “Liebherr sets the standard in the industry, and their unmatched service ensures we can deliver on our promise of excellence,” Mario Aguado added.
With this latest addition, Aguado continues to fortify its leadership in the heavy lifting sector, combining cutting-edge equipment with decades of expertise to tackle the most challenging projects.
