Air France KLM Martinair Cargo Expands Cold Chain Capacity at Paris-CDG

Air France KLM Martinair Cargo has added two new +2°C/+8°C cool rooms at its G1XL facility in Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), enhancing its handling capabilities for pharmaceuticals and perishables. These additions are part of the carrier’s broader commitment to strengthening its cold chain infrastructure. Designed to support sensitive cargo, the new cool rooms meet strict temperature control standards, ensuring consistent product integrity from origin to destination.

Adriaan den Heijer, executive vice president at Air France KLM Martinair Cargo, emphasized that the upgrade aligns with the company’s long-term strategy to meet growing demand in pharma and perishable logistics. The facility now boasts expanded capacity for loose shipments, with both rooms fully integrated into the existing cargo handling flow at CDG.

This move comes at a time when global demand for temperature-controlled transport continues to climb, driven by evolving pharmaceutical regulations and increased consumer demand for fresh produce. With these upgrades, the carrier aims to ensure reliability across all stages of the supply chain.

The Paris hub already holds CEIV Pharma certification, and the new infrastructure adds another layer of compliance assurance. The focus is on maintaining stable temperatures from warehouse to tarmac, minimizing risks related to temperature excursions.

Temperature-sensitive cargo is a high-stakes segment, and every degree matters. With the added capacity, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo sharpens its competitive edge while sending a clear message to shippers: their cargo is kept cool and handled with precision.
