ALS Moves Compressor Units in UK

ALS’s operations team recently organised the transportation of two compressor units and ancillary equipment within the UK to meet a vessel to their final destination in Russia.

The two compressors each measured 13.10 metres long and 4.41 metres wide with a height of 4.50 metres and weighed 51 tonnes. They were transported on low bed trailers and a further five trailers were utilised to carry the additional ancillary equipment.

Lifting and quay operations were arranged by ALS to lift all 18 crated items into the hold of the vessel, which were lashed and safely secured for the vessel’s voyage from Grangemouth.

Scope of work:

• Transportation by road from factory to quay
• Crane lifts direct from trailer to vessel
• Lashing & securing in the vessel hold

“The movement involved a lot of planning by our exceptional team and some last-minute adjustments to ensure the cargo was carefully and safely transported from the collection point to the vessel with the most cost-effective solution.”
