BBC EVEREST Rises to Challenge

BBC Chartering assisted in relocating a mobile harbour crane to the ever expanding Port Kembla recently.

“We are happy to contribute to investments into infrastructure all around the world and deliver solutions and high quality operations, ensuring your precious units arrive safely and in sound condition. We thank LINX Cargo Care Group for the trust in us.”

The ew harbour crane, Hendo, has arrived at Port Kembla and has set to work supporting the LINX team to further improve loading and unloading for BlueScope.

The LINX-owned Liebherr LHM420 is one of only a handful in Australia and joins the existing harbour crane known as, ‘Big Red’. Hendo tips the scales at 350 tonnes, stands 33 metres tall with a max boom height of 68 metres, and is capable of loading up to 60 tonne of steel products in a single lift.

Vince Trotter, Executive General Manager, LINX Port Services, said the relocation of the crane to Port Kembla to support BlueScope was representative of the strong long-term relationship between the two parties, both keen to see the local operation reach its potential.

“The relocation of a crane this size is logistically significant however the extra loading and unloading capacity this crane provides, and the broader benefit it will deliver to a crucial part of BlueScope’s operation, made it an easy decision and well worth the effort.”
