Blue Water’s Logistics Triumph: A Cross-Border Success Story

At Blue Water, tackling complex logistics is all in a day’s work. Just before Christmas, a potential customer in England approached us with a challenging project. They had purchased a significant order from a supplier in Denmark, a longstanding client of Blue Water. The task was clear but demanding: transport approximately 300 loads from 10 different locations in Denmark to a central delivery point in England, all within a tight timeframe—starting at the end of February 2024 and concluding by the end of June 2024.

This wasn’t just about moving regular curtain trailer loads; the project also included 35 oversized cargo loads. These loads required meticulous planning and special handling due to their size. Søren Jessen Dahl, Manager Road UK, Ireland & Domestic at Blue Water, shed light on how the company approached the task. “In true #TogetherWeCreateSolutions spirit, we quickly built a solution with help from our various departments around Denmark: the Niche/Key Account Management in Odense, Specials in Herning, the UK team in Taulov, and last but certainly not least, our experienced Blue Water colleagues in Manchester.”

The cargo was vital for the renewables industry, consisting of around 6,000 pieces of equipment destined for a surface treatment facility. The oversized loads, which included chimneys and air handling unit blocks, measured between 14-22 meters, making their transport a complex endeavor.

Søren further explained, “We put together a competitive setup that satisfied both the supplier in Denmark and the customer in the UK. The first load was transported at the end of February. Our setup didn’t just include the physical freight; it also encompassed export documentation and cargo insurance.”

The project was a collaborative effort requiring continuous contact and follow-up throughout the process. Blue Water, in partnership with the shipper in Denmark and the customer in the UK, managed to meet all parameters successfully. As the project nears its end, it’s clear that this venture has been both challenging and exciting, showcasing Blue Water’s capability to deliver comprehensive logistics solutions on an international scale.
