Cadeler Secures Major Contracts with ScottishPower Renewables for East Anglia TWO Offshore Wind Farm Project

Cadeler A/S has officially signed firm contracts with ScottishPower Renewables to handle the transportation and installation of 64 massive 15MW offshore wind turbine generators (WTGs) and their corresponding foundations for the East Anglia TWO Offshore Wind Farm. Developed by ScottishPower Renewables, a branch of the Iberdrola Group, this project is a significant part of the UK’s renewable energy efforts. The contract value to Cadeler is estimated between EUR 360 and 382 million, with offshore operations slated to begin in 2027, utilizing one of Cadeler’s advanced A-class vessels.

The East Anglia TWO Offshore Wind Farm is set to become a key component in the UK’s renewable energy landscape. In September, the UK government awarded crucial contracts for the expansion of offshore wind farms, with ScottishPower Renewables’ East Anglia TWO project securing 960MW capacity. Positioned in the North Sea off England’s east coast, this wind farm is estimated to supply renewable energy to power nearly one million homes annually, underscoring the project’s role in driving toward the UK’s clean energy targets.

Cadeler’s involvement covers the transportation and installation of both the foundations and WTGs for East Anglia TWO, marking a substantial logistical undertaking. To accomplish this, Cadeler will deploy an A-class newbuild vessel alongside an O-class vessel from its existing fleet, showcasing the company’s strategic fleet composition and ability to maximize operational efficiency. This multi-vessel deployment emphasizes Cadeler’s adaptability and commitment to supporting large-scale renewable energy projects.

Cadeler’s CEO, Mikkel Gleerup, highlighted the strategic alignment between the company’s growth and its clients’ evolving needs. “This project underlines that our strategic decisions are in sync with our customers’ needs and the demands that we see in the market. With our six newbuilds on their way, Cadeler will deliver even greater flexibility and offer still improved efficiency for our clients, with solutions for even more complex projects. The East Anglia TWO project reinforces Cadeler’s strong position as a full-service T&I provider in the foundations space and our pivotal role in driving the transition to renewable offshore wind energy,” Gleerup stated.

The partnership with ScottishPower Renewables further solidifies Cadeler’s position in the offshore wind installation sector. Today’s contract signing follows an initial reservation agreement announced by Cadeler in May, advancing a project that’s expected to support the UK’s green transition initiatives well into the next decade. The firm contract confirmation for a critical element of East Anglia TWO’s development indicates that the wind farm’s progress remains on track.

CEO of ScottishPower Renewables, Charlie Jordan, acknowledged the significance of this partnership, especially in light of the recent contract allocations under the UK’s Auction Round 6. “Following our recent auction success, we’ve been moving with pace and purpose to confirm the supply chain for East Anglia TWO, so it’s great to have Cadeler on board supporting this vital clean energy project, which will power almost one million homes with green electricity. East Anglia is the heart of our offshore wind operations in the UK and a vitally important region for us with one operational wind farm, another under construction and the supply chain now being confirmed for our third, enabling us to get out there and deliver a cleaner, greener and better future, quicker,” said Jordan.

The project will commence offshore installation work in 2027 and is positioned to contribute meaningfully to the UK government’s renewable energy targets for 2030, particularly in the offshore wind sector. Cadeler’s participation demonstrates both its operational strengths and strategic alignment with global renewable energy goals, as Europe continues to prioritize green infrastructure investment to meet future energy needs.
