CEVA Logistics recently accomplished a significant feat by successfully transporting CRRC Tangshan’s self-developed double-deck train cars from China to Montreal, Canada. The project, which involved moving heavy and oversized cargo across multiple continents, showcased CEVA’s ability to manage complex logistics operations efficiently.
The double-deck train cars, known for their substantial weight and dimensions, presented considerable logistical challenges. However, CEVA Logistics designed and executed a comprehensive end-to-end solution that ensured the safe and timely delivery of the train cars to their final destination.
The journey began with land transportation from the CRRC Tangshan factory to Tianjin Port. Given the size of the train cars, this initial stage required meticulous planning to navigate China’s roads without causing disruptions. Upon reaching Tianjin Port, the train cars were loaded onto a vessel for the ocean segment of the journey.
The ocean transport was particularly challenging as the route involved navigating through the Panama Canal, a critical juncture that required precise coordination due to the train cars’ oversized nature. The successful passage through the canal highlighted CEVA’s expertise in handling such demanding shipments.

Once the train cars arrived in Canada, the final leg of the journey involved rail transportation to the project site in Montreal. This stage also demanded careful planning to ensure the cars could be securely transported on the Canadian rail network, which has its own set of logistical constraints.
CEVA’s ability to manage this complex multimodal transport operation underscores its position as a leading logistics provider in the breakbulk and project freight sectors. By seamlessly integrating land, sea, and rail transportation, CEVA ensured that CRRC Tangshan’s train cars reached their destination on time and in perfect condition.
