CEVA Logistics Unveils New Vertical Structure to Enhance Global Services

CEVA Logistics, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, has unveiled a strategic reorganization designed to streamline its extensive logistics services. This new vertical structure aims to provide customers with seamless access to its comprehensive offerings, which include air, ocean, ground, and rail transport, contract logistics, finished vehicle logistics, project logistics, and customs solutions.

The reorganization comes on the heels of CEVA’s integration of Bolloré Logistics, acquired by CMA CGM on February 29, 2024. With this integration, CEVA Logistics is set to strengthen its market position under a unified brand, with the rebranding expected to complete by the end of 2024. In 2023, CEVA reported pro forma revenue of $20.2 billion, facilitated by the transport of 1.9 million TEUs of ocean freight and 800,000 tons of air freight, and the management of 11.7 million square meters of warehouse space. The company’s global workforce numbers 110,000 employees.

This new vertical alignment is designed to enhance CEVA’s operational efficiency and product development. By aligning product teams at local levels, CEVA aims to accelerate the creation and implementation of innovative solutions tailored to meet diverse customer needs across various regions. Furthermore, the combination of Air and Ocean operations will leverage best practices and technological advancements, particularly with the full implementation of CargoWise.

CEVA’s growth trajectory has been significant since its acquisition by CMA CGM in 2019. The company has broadened its capabilities and geographical footprint through several strategic acquisitions. Notably, CEVA expanded its African network and bolstered its e-commerce solutions by acquiring Ingram Micro’s CLS division in 2022. The acquisition of GEFCO enhanced CEVA’s European overland network and its finished vehicle logistics for automotive clients. Adding Bolloré Logistics to its portfolio strengthens CEVA’s air and ocean freight management capabilities. Additional acquisitions have extended CEVA’s reach in perishables transport in Latin America (through Cargex) and in small parcel, last-mile delivery in France (via Colis Privé).

CEVA Logistics CEO Mathieu Friedberg expressed his pride in the company’s progress, stating, “Our teams have been working toward this moment for many years, and I’m so proud of where we are as a company. CEVA Logistics is moving to a vertical, product-driven organization that will benefit our team and our customers as we compete among the Top 5 of the logistics industry. The vision we put in place for CEVA with the support of the CMA CGM Group is taking its final form. Our ability to innovate and collaborate with our customers to improve their global supply chains through truly end-to-end solutions is unmatched in some market segments.”
