CMA CGM Completes Discharging Two Transformers

For CMA CGM, this is the second consecutive heavy lift shipment of transformers through Jebel Ali using floating cranes.

Their project cargo team efficiently discharged a heavy load of two 150 tonne transformers.

“We are the only carrier to use a floating crane for loading and unloading oversized pieces in Jebel Ali Port. Thank you to all our staff members and partners involved in this operation.”

As previously reported by BBN in July, Jebel Ali Port has helped to ship four huge polyethylene reactors – the largest weighing 227 tonnes – to Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The operation was undertaken with the CMA CGM Group.

The shipment was handled with the help of a floating crane from Drydocks World and then loaded on a container vessel with two sailings. As one of the largest project cargoes loaded on a container ship in the Middle East, the operation mobilised more than 100 specialists.

A total of 839 tonnes of cargo, measuring 35 metres in length, seven metres in height, and seven metres in width was transported from the DP World-operated facility, occupying 424 TEU slots.
