The CMA CGM Foundation has joined forces with the Egyptian Food Bank in a strategic partnership aimed at alleviating food insecurity in Egypt. Kicking off their collaboration with a large-scale Ramadan initiative, the two organizations have distributed 1,000 food parcels, reaching approximately 5,000 individuals in need during the Holy Month.
On March 5, 30 CMA CGM Group employees, led by CMA CGM Egypt CEO Tariq Zaghloul, worked alongside Egyptian Food Bank volunteers to pack the food parcels, which were delivered the following day. The distribution effort targeted underserved communities, particularly in rural areas, ensuring families had access to nutritious meals during Ramadan.

“We are proud to partner with the Egyptian Food Bank to help tackle food insecurity. Our shared commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, particularly during Ramadan, is a powerful reflection of the CMA CGM Foundation’s values of solidarity and humanitarian aid,” said Tariq Zaghloul. “I want to express my deepest gratitude to our staff for their dedication and to the Egyptian Food Bank for their expertise. This is just the beginning of our long-term commitment to help more families in need.”
Echoing this sentiment, Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of the Egyptian Food Bank, emphasized the importance of the partnership. “Our collaboration with the CMA CGM Foundation represents a significant step forward in our mission to combat food insecurity. Ramadan is a time of giving and solidarity, and through this initiative, we are able to provide essential food supplies to thousands of individuals who need them most.”
This marks the second consecutive year that the CMA CGM Foundation has organized food distribution efforts in Egypt. Last year, similar initiatives in Alexandria and Cairo saw staff members mobilize to distribute over 1,000 food packages during Ramadan.
A Global Commitment to Fighting Hunger
Beyond Egypt, the CMA CGM Foundation is actively engaged in tackling food insecurity worldwide. In France and its overseas territories, it collaborates with major food aid organizations such as Restos du Coeur, French Food Banks, Secours Populaire, Secours Catholique, and ANDES.
In Lebanon, the Foundation supports the distribution of hot meals and has contributed to the construction of a community kitchen in Beirut, capable of serving 3,000 meals per day. Its reach extends to the United States, where it partners with The Salvation Army to provide vital food assistance to those in need.
Since its inception, the CMA CGM Foundation has facilitated the distribution of over 10 million meals worldwide, underscoring its ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity on a global scale.
