SHANGHAI, July 22, 2026 – CMA CGM has officially named CMA CGM PANTHEON, the latest addition to its fleet of 24,000 TEU LNG-powered container vessels sailing under the French flag, marking another milestone in the carrier’s fleet modernization and decarbonization strategy.
The newbuild is the sistership of CMA CGM NOTRE DAME and was formally welcomed during a naming ceremony attended by her Master, Captain Benoit Le Dreau, and godmother Ms. Xiao Wang, Director of Programming & Screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival, in keeping with longstanding maritime tradition.

Following the ceremony, CMA CGM PANTHEON will enter service on the carrier’s French Asia Line 1 (FAL1), one of the group’s flagship services linking major Asian ports with Europe. The deployment strengthens CMA CGM’s capacity on one of the world’s busiest east-west trade routes.
Powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the 24,000 TEU vessel forms part of CMA CGM’s ongoing investment in lower-emission shipping technologies. LNG-powered containerships reduce emissions of sulfur oxides, particulate matter and nitrogen oxides while lowering carbon emissions compared with conventionally fuelled vessels, supporting the company’s broader energy transition objectives.
The introduction of CMA CGM PANTHEON reflects the French carrier’s continued focus on expanding a more sustainable fleet while maintaining high-capacity services for global trade between Asia and Europe.
