COLI Group Transports Vital Power Plant Equipment for Cyprus’ Mari CCGT Project

CPC Coli Project Cargo, a division of the COLI Group, has been tasked with a critical transportation project in Cyprus. The company is delivering key components for the Mari Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant, which represents the country’s first thermal independent power facility. Operated by Cyfield Group, the plant is expected to bolster Cyprus’ energy infrastructure, meeting the growing demand for electricity while significantly reducing the nation’s carboCPC Coli Project Cargo transports key components for Cyprus’ Mari CCGT power plant, a crucial step in meeting the island’s energy demands and reducing its carbon footprint….n footprint.

The shipment, currently en route from China, is no small feat. It involves a total of 7,532 cubic meters (CBM) of power plant equipment, including individual items weighing up to 300 metric tons. This massive cargo is essential for the construction of the Mari CCGT plant, which plays a pivotal role in securing Cyprus’ future energy needs.

CPC Coli worked in collaboration with CSL Shipping (Shanghai), a key partner in China, to organize the transport. CSL chartered the breakbulk vessel KS Aim, which successfully loaded the cargo in China and set sail for Cyprus. The equipment is expected to arrive in time to keep the project on schedule, a crucial factor given the plant’s importance to the island’s national energy strategy.

The Mari CCGT project is a significant milestone for Cyprus, positioning the country to better handle both its immediate and long-term energy requirements. As the world transitions towards greener energy solutions, this plant is also a step toward reducing Cyprus’ reliance on fossil fuels and its overall carbon emissions.

Cyfield Group, responsible for the plant’s operations, has expressed confidence in both CPC Coli and CSL Shipping’s abilities to deliver the equipment safely and on time. The partnership between these companies highlights the importance of global collaboration in the breakbulk and project cargo industry, where timing, precision, and reliability are critical.
