Collett Expands Heavy Haul Capabilities with 36 Goldhofer Modular Axles

Heavy transport logistics specialist Collett & Sons Ltd is making a bold addition to its fleet with the purchase of 36 Goldhofer THP/SL-L modular axle lines, scheduled to be operational by August 2025.

The move marks a significant step for the UK-based logistics provider, as it’s the first time the company has added Goldhofer modular axles to its lineup. Known for tackling complex and oversized cargo movements across Europe, Collett’s latest acquisition suggests a focused push toward increasing flexibility and load capacity for its specialist projects.

In heavy transport, equipment isn’t just equipment—it’s the backbone of execution. The Goldhofer THP/SL-L modular axle series offers a lightweight build with a hefty payload punch. Each axle line can handle up to 26.1 tonnes, while weighing in at just 2.77 tonnes per axle. This ratio of strength to weight is critical when maneuvering through challenging terrains, strict weight regulations, or tight urban spaces.

The new axles aren’t just strong—they’re adaptable. Configurations can be tailored load by load, offering Collett the precision it needs when handling everything from wind turbine components to industrial machinery. For a company that often operates at the edge of what’s physically possible on roads, such flexibility isn’t a luxury—it’s essential.

Mark Howe, UK Sales Representative at Goldhofer, welcomed the development, saying, “We’re delighted to see Collett & Sons add the Goldhofer THP/SL-L modular axle lines to their fleet. The versatility and high-performance capabilities of the THP/SL-L are an ideal fit for the complex and challenging transport projects Collett takes on.”

David Collett, Managing Director at Collett & Sons Ltd, emphasized the strategic nature of the purchase. “We are pleased to welcome the new THP/SL-L Goldhofer modular axle lines into our fleet. We believe the decision to invest in Goldhofer equipment is the right move for our operations, and we look forward to seeing these axles in action on the road this August.”

The new units are expected to bolster Collett’s ability to meet rising demand for precision-engineered transport solutions across infrastructure, energy, and industrial sectors. As pressure mounts for time-sensitive and complex logistics, Collett’s investment hints at a broader trend—operators doubling down on technology that delivers both strength and smarts.
