COSCO Shipping collected a 62,000 dwt multi-purpose pulp ship “COSCO Shipping Development” from Dalian COSCO Shipyard in eastern China on 11 January.
The vessel is 201.8m long, 32.3m beam and 19.3 deep. The ship has six large cargo bays with a total storage capacity of 72,500 cubic meters. The vessel is expected to transport pulp from Brazil to China.
The engine configuration was not disclosed. The vessel will be equipped with a selective catalyst reduction (SCR) system, which will ensure that the vessels comply with IMO Tier III NOx emission requirements.
The construction of the multi-purpose vessel forms part of China’s strategic objective of developing ship building expertise in the special vessel segment.
