DEME’s ‘Apollo’ Wraps Up Pre-Piling at Dieppe – Le Tréport Offshore Wind Farm

DEME Group’s offshore installation vessel ‘Apollo’ has successfully completed the pre-piling campaign at the Dieppe – Le Tréport offshore wind farm in France. Kicking off in June 2024, the operation saw the transport and installation of 248 pin piles, a critical step in preparing the site for its next construction phase. With this milestone checked off, DEME’s team is already shifting gears for the upcoming jacket installation, set to begin in the summer of 2025.

This offshore project is shaping up to be one of the largest in France, with DEME responsible for installing the foundations for 62 wind turbines. In addition, the company will handle the transport and installation of pin piles, the offshore substation’s jacket, topside, and the full EPCI (engineering, procurement, construction, and installation) scope for 120 km of inter-array cables. Given its track record in France, including successful projects at Saint-Nazaire and Iles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier, DEME is solidifying its position as a major player in the country’s offshore wind expansion.

The Dieppe – Le Tréport wind farm is a project of Les Éoliennes en Mer Services, with ownership shared by OW Ocean Winds (a joint venture of EDP Renewables and ENGIE), Sumitomo Corporation, and Banque des Territoires. Once completed, this 496 MW wind farm is expected to generate enough renewable energy to power nearly 850,000 homes, furthering France’s push towards a greener energy future.

With offshore wind farms playing a crucial role in Europe’s energy transition, developments like Dieppe – Le Tréport underscore the industry’s rapid expansion and the growing need for specialized offshore expertise. As the installation phase approaches, all eyes will be on DEME’s ability to execute yet another complex offshore project on time and within scope.
