DP World Expands Australian Operations with New Rail Service at Yennora Intermodal Terminal

DP World has taken a significant step in enhancing its Australian operations with the launch of a new rail service at Stockland’s Yennora Intermodal Terminal. The inauguration ceremony on May 20 was a high-profile event, attended by notable figures including Julia Finn, Member for Granville (NSW), Amna Al-Suwaidi, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Australia, Nicolaj Noes, Executive Vice President of DP World Oceania, Tarun Gupta, Managing Director and CEO of Stockland, and Marika Calfas, CEO of NSW Ports.

The new service is set to revolutionize freight logistics between Yennora and Port Botany, with two direct train services operating daily. This dedicated rail route, owned and managed by DP World, promises to enhance efficiency and reliability for businesses relying on these critical connections.

According to DP World, the new service will manage an impressive annual rail capacity of 160,000 TEU, which is anticipated to significantly reduce road congestion by eliminating up to 160 truck journeys each day. This shift from road to rail not only boosts efficiency but also contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing overall emissions.

Nicolaj Noes expressed enthusiasm about the new development, stating, “Our partnership with Stockland and expanded presence at the Yennora Intermodal Terminal means that we can offer services that suit the growing needs of our customers. They can better rely on us to ensure their goods are delivered in a timely manner.”

Tarun Gupta highlighted the strategic advantages of the terminal, noting, “The terminal’s direct connection to ports, roads, and rail improves the logistics that businesses need to serve their customers. Its scale also enables DP World and its customers to take advantage of the growing economic opportunities in the region. We look forward to continuing our work with DP World to bring to life the full potential of this facility.”
