Panama City, Panama – DP World, a global logistics and supply chain leader, has officially opened a new freight forwarding office in Panama City, marking another strategic expansion in Latin America. This move underscores DP World’s commitment to providing seamless, end-to-end supply chain solutions across the region.
The new office offers a full suite of freight forwarding services, including ocean freight for both FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less Container Load), air freight, customs clearance, warehousing, multimodal transportation, and insurance facilities. With DP World’s extensive global infrastructure supporting these services, customers can expect improved supply chain efficiency, better cargo visibility, and streamlined operations.
Morten Johansen, COO of DP World Americas, highlighted Panama’s key role in global trade, stating, “Panama’s strategic position at the crossroads of global trade makes it an ideal location for expanding our freight forwarding operations. This office will enable DP World to offer our customers in Panama and throughout Latin America more comprehensive logistics solutions that address the complexities of modern supply chains.”
Panama’s unique geographic location between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans makes it a critical hub for international trade. The country’s robust logistics infrastructure—encompassing seaports, airports, and an interoceanic railroad system—provides DP World with unmatched access to global markets. The new office is set to play a significant role in facilitating trade across the Americas and beyond, furthering DP World’s contribution to regional economic development.
Terry Donohoe, Senior Vice President of Freight Forwarding at DP World Americas, added, “Our Panama City office not only expands DP World’s operational footprint but also enhances our ability to deliver solutions that support local businesses. From traditional air, ocean, and customs brokerage services to specialized offerings like temperature-controlled shipping for perishables and project cargo handling, we are equipped to meet the diverse needs of the Panamanian market.”
DP World’s global expansion reflects its broader sustainability goals. As part of the company’s “Our World, Our Future” strategy, the Panama office integrates green initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting resource efficiency, aligning with the company’s commitment to sustainable growth in the supply chain sector.
Since mid-2023, DP World has opened over 150 new freight forwarding offices worldwide, 20 of which are located in the Americas. The Panama office complements existing operations in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru, and Suriname, with plans for further expansion across the United States and Latin America.
