DSV has successfully delivered its heaviest single piece of project cargo in Asia in recent years.
In connection with the RDMP project, Hyundai Engineering reached out to DSV’s Projects team in APAC, as they needed to transport a main fractionator column from Kuantan, Malaysia, to Balikpapan, Indonesia. The main fractionator column is a key component in the extraction of various products from crude oil, and with a weight of 950 tonnes, this was no ordinary request.
“Even at DSV, it is not every day that we are asked to move a 950-tonnes piece of cargo, but this was nevertheless what happened when Hyundai Engineering tasked us with transporting a main fractionator column from Kuantan, Malaysia, to Balikpapan, Indonesia.
Utilising the expertise of our DSV Projects teams, who specialise in moving heavy, oversized or complex cargo, we were able to ensure that the oil distilling component arrived at its destination within the given timeframe.”
Six days after the main fractionator column was loaded onboard the heavylift Jumbo vessel in the port of Kuantan, Malaysia, it was discharged at its destination in Balikpapan, Indonesia, after which it was successfully put to use as part of the RDMP Balikpapan Project.
