DSV Air & Sea has taken a significant step toward sustainable logistics by acquiring two electric trucks from Volvo in Singapore. The handover event, attended by the Danish Ambassador to Singapore and key representatives from Volvo Trucks and DSV, showcased the delivery of a Volvo FL Electric and a Volvo FM Electric, signaling a move towards cleaner, more eco-friendly transportation solutions.
These models, designed for different operational needs, offer zero-emission transport. The FL Electric, with its nimble design, is ideal for urban deliveries, particularly in Singapore’s congested cityscape. Meanwhile, the FM Electric, built for long-haul operations, combines a higher payload with the same environmental benefits, enabling larger shipments to travel more sustainably.

Gino Marzola, Managing Director of DSV Air & Sea Singapore & Malaysia, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “It’s not just about adopting new technology; it’s about leading the way toward a greener, more sustainable future.” This acquisition aligns with both DSV’s global sustainability goals and Singapore’s Green Plan 2030, which aims to reduce carbon emissions across multiple sectors.
Volvo, a leader in electromobility, has already placed over 4,200 electric trucks in 46 countries. DSV, following a recent order of 300 electric trucks from Volvo for its European fleet, is one of the top buyers of Volvo’s electric trucks. The partnership reflects the companies’ commitment to reducing CO2 emissions and promoting sustainable transport on a global scale.
In addition to the trucks themselves, Volvo is offering comprehensive support through a 7-year Gold Service Agreement, ensuring that DSV’s transition to electric vehicles in Singapore is as seamless as possible. Training for drivers, provided by UD Trucks Singapore, is also part of this initiative, underlining the importance of efficient and safe operation of these new electric vehicles.
The move fits into DSV’s broader strategy to expand its electric vehicle fleet in Singapore, where it already operates electric vans and smaller e-trucks. The company is actively engaging with clients to explore how electric trucks can be integrated into their supply chains, aiming to accelerate the shift toward greener logistics in the region.
