Empire Energy Partners and Sarens Collaborate to Boost U.S. Offshore Wind Projects

Empire Energy Partners’ Offshore Division has signed an MOU framework agreement with Sarens, a global heavyweight in lifting, transport, and engineering. This strategic partnership is set to bolster the expansion of U.S. offshore wind projects, merging Empire Energy’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) expertise with Sarens’ renowned prowess in large-scale heavy lifting and transport. The collaboration aims to deliver a unified, “one-stop-shop” solution for offshore wind developers across the U.S., offering an integrated approach that promises efficiency and safety in project execution.

The partnership comes as demand for domestic offshore wind developments continues to rise, driven by the push towards renewable energy. Empire Energy Offshore will serve as the primary EPC contractor, while Sarens will provide critical support in heavy lifting, transport, and engineering, ensuring a streamlined process from start to finish. By pooling their resources, the two companies intend to address the growing need for comprehensive EPC solutions in the offshore wind sector, allowing developers to benefit from a more cohesive and reliable service.

Sarens is no stranger to offshore wind projects, with a portfolio that includes notable projects like the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm—the largest of its kind in the U.S. This experience positions Sarens as a key player in the offshore wind market, both domestically and internationally. “This partnership will allow us to expand our services in the U.S. offshore wind market,” said Mike Milledge, Senior Director of Offshore Wind at Empire Energy Partners. “By working with Sarens, we can offer our clients a full-service solution from start to finish, positioning ourselves as leaders in the renewable energy space.”

Sarens’ involvement in offshore wind extends beyond the U.S., with major projects in Europe and Asia under its belt. Their track record includes work on wind farms in the North Sea and collaborations in Taiwan and South Korea, further demonstrating their global leadership in the sector. As Steven Sarens, Managing Director of Sarens Projects USA, put it: “By working together, we can offer a seamless, integrated service that will streamline project execution and ensure the success of offshore wind developments in the U.S.”

The synergy between Empire Energy and Sarens marks a significant step forward in the U.S. offshore wind industry, combining top-tier engineering and project management with world-class heavy lifting and transport expertise. With both companies deeply committed to the growth of renewable energy, their collaboration is expected to make a lasting impact on the future of U.S. offshore wind projects.
