Local Dutch media have reported that on Sunday morning (21 August 2022), a fire broke out onboard one of BigLift Shipping’s heavy lift vessels, Happy Rover, in Schiedam, Rotterdam.
The Happy Rover is in a dry dock at Damen Shiprepair, where the fire started during work. The fire was finally brought under control on Monday morning.
The Captain and crew are reported to be uninjured.
Local media suggest that he ship arrived in Schiedam from Canada on 08 August 2022.
The ship is empty and has no cargo. All workers disembarked safely on time. The fire broke out around 03:00 am was raging in the front of the ship. Emergency services were on hand to fight the fire.
