It was reported this week that a fire occurred onboard a BBC Chartering general cargo vessel last month damaging two yachts on deck.
Here is BBC Chartering’s brief statement concerning the fire aboard BBC VIRGINIA:
“We regret to confirm that on 27 November 2021, a fire occurred on cargo loaded on the weather deck of MV BBC VIRGINIA whilst on a voyage from Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The cargo and two surrounding yachts sustained extensive damage. The vessel therefore made an additional call at Kaohsiung, Taiwan. We have immediately commenced a proper and thorough survey and are working with the authorities to establish the root cause of the incident, which has not caused any injuries or marine pollution.”
