Value Maritime (VM) is set to enhance the sustainability efforts of ForestWave, a key player in the multipurpose shortsea segment, by supplying two advanced Filtree Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS) and Carbon Capture units for the general cargo vessels FWN Sea and FWN Sun. This collaboration marks the first contract between VM and ForestWave, underscoring a significant step towards greener maritime operations.
The Filtree system, featuring cutting-edge carbon capture and storage technology, is designed to capture up to 10% of CO2 emissions. This innovative technology will be installed on the 10,600 DWT vessels FWN Sea and FWN Sun at Value Maritime’s quay in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The plug-and-play nature of the Filtree unit, combined with its unique and patented technology, ensures a smooth and efficient installation process. Its compact design sets it apart from other exhaust gas cleaning systems, making it particularly suitable for general cargo vessels.
ForestWave has chosen the next-generation 3MW Filtree, which includes a 10% carbon capture rate and an upgrade option to a 30% capture rate. The captured CO2 will be stored in a dedicated tank onboard the vessels. The installations are scheduled for late 2024, with both companies working closely together to ensure a seamless and successful implementation.
This collaboration signifies a major advancement in ForestWave’s sustainability strategy, leveraging VM’s innovative technology to reduce emissions and improve environmental performance. The Filtree EGCS system and integrated Carbon Capture unit represent a significant leap forward in maritime emission reduction, aligning with global efforts to mitigate climate change.
