Forging the Future: Sarens and XCMG Unite in Strategic Global Alliance

At the BAUMA 2025 exhibition in Munich, two industry powerhouses — crane rental and heavy lifting specialist Sarens, and construction equipment manufacturer XCMG Machinery Co. Ltd. — officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement, marking a pivotal moment for the global heavy machinery and project logistics sectors.

The agreement was formalized by Jan L. Sarens, Board Member and Trade Director at Sarens, and Jianzhong Sun, Vice President and General Manager of the Hoisting Machinery Division at XCMG. Both sides described the partnership as a cornerstone for long-term collaboration across global markets.

Rather than a ceremonial gesture, this alliance is rooted in practical objectives: cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and deeper operational integration. The companies aim to combine strengths in engineering, supply chain, and technical innovation to sharpen their competitiveness. As markets become more complex and cost-sensitive, especially in project freight and heavy cargo sectors, partnerships like this are not just strategic — they’re essential.

By pooling resources, XCMG and Sarens plan to enhance their joint capabilities in servicing large-scale industrial, energy, and infrastructure projects. This includes sharing technical expertise, synchronizing supply networks, and tapping into each other’s global footprints. With increasing pressure on logistics players to deliver faster, safer, and more efficient solutions, the alliance could serve as a catalyst for smarter project execution and leaner operations.

“This strategic partnership is a milestone that sets the foundation for long-term cooperation between our two companies,” said both representatives during the signing ceremony. It signals a deliberate shift in how OEMs and service providers approach global collaboration — not as rivals competing for contracts, but as allies leveraging each other’s strengths in a highly specialized and capital-intensive field.

For Sarens, which has built a reputation in engineered transport and crane rental across over 60 countries, the cooperation adds manufacturing muscle and access to emerging Asian markets. XCMG, on the other hand, gains proximity to Western project markets where Sarens already operates with deep-rooted client relationships. It’s a clear case of one hand washing the other.

The announcement at BAUMA 2025 didn’t just turn heads — it signaled a realignment in global logistics strategy, where cooperation might now outpace competition in driving growth.
