Fugro, a global leader in Geo-data services, has landed a significant long-term contract with Van Oord, a renowned marine contractor, to provide essential construction support for offshore wind farms across Europe. The agreement, set to span three years with an extension option, marks another milestone in the partnership between the two industry giants.
Under the terms of this contract, Fugro will deploy multiple remotely operated vehicle (ROV) systems, construction equipment, and specialized personnel aboard Van Oord’s vessels, Calypso and Subsea Viking. These resources will be dedicated to various operations such as cable laying, trenching, and detailed survey tasks crucial for the construction and positioning of offshore wind farms. By supplying vital Geo-data, Fugro aims to minimize risks associated with these complex projects while optimizing future operations.
The ROV systems provided by Fugro are not just a temporary measure; they will be permanently stationed on Van Oord’s vessels for the full duration of the contract. This ensures continuous and uninterrupted support for Van Oord’s operations, reflecting the depth of commitment from both companies to the success of these renewable energy projects.
This contract builds on a strong history of collaboration between Fugro and Van Oord. Previously, Fugro has successfully delivered a range of services to Van Oord, including survey and positioning services, metocean forecasting and studies, unexploded ordnance (UXO) surveys, and geoconsultancy support.
