Gateway Terminals Savannah has appointed Bryan Blalock as its new president, succeeding Kevin Price, who will join the Georgia Ports Authority leadership team on July 1, 2026, the companies announced.

The leadership transition at one of the United States’ busiest container stevedoring operations comes as the Port of Savannah continues to expand its capacity and cargo volumes. Gateway Terminals serves as the primary stevedoring and terminal operating joint venture at the port, handling container movements across all berths on behalf of the Georgia Ports Authority, the nation’s third-busiest container port complex.

Blalock brings operational depth

Blalock joins from CMC, where he served as chief operating officer overseeing more than 60 operations and a workforce of approximately 1,900 staff. He brings over 35 years of experience in port terminal operations, strategic planning, and process optimisation.

Griff Lynch, Georgia Ports Authority president and CEO, said the appointment positions Gateway to maintain service continuity for ocean carriers. “We welcome Bryan Blalock to Savannah and the important role he will play supporting ocean carriers,” Lynch said. “Together, Gateway and Georgia Ports aim to provide our customers a best in class experience.”

Price moves to authority leadership

Price, who led Gateway since its formation as a joint venture in 2022 combining Ports America, Ceres Marine Terminals, and SSA Atlantic, will take on the role of president at the Georgia Ports Authority effective July 1, 2026, with a longer term plan to assume president and CEO responsibilities in mid 2027.

Price said Blalock’s background positions Gateway for continued high performance. “Bryan’s leadership, safety mindset and industry experience will keep Gateway on a high performance path and strengthen customer relationships,” Price said.

Savannah eyes continued growth

Blalock said the port’s growth trajectory was a key factor in the role. “The Port of Savannah is one of the fastest growing ports in the US, and I look forward to helping our customers grow through best in class operations,” he said.

The Georgia Ports Authority has a self financed capital investment plan of approximately 4.5 billion dollars over the next ten years, which includes five new large vessel berths at Savannah and a fourth berth at the Port of Brunswick. The port currently handles 39 ship calls per week and processes around 14,000 truck gate moves daily, according to the authority.

The timing of the dual transition aligns with a period of sustained cargo growth and infrastructure expansion at Savannah, which has positioned itself as a primary East Coast gateway for containerised trade.
