Centralised fulfilment in Elche

Spanish footwear company Gioseppo has upgraded its warehouse management software as online sales and international distribution place greater demands on its logistics operations.

The company has deployed the new version of Mecalux Easy WMS across two facilities in Elche, Spain, where it manages 1.6 million pairs of shoes. The system centralises order processing from stores, the company website, digital outlets and marketplaces.

Gioseppo said the upgrade was completed without interrupting activity. The project is intended to synchronise picking across the two sites and provide consistent service regardless of the sales channel used.

One facility is a clad rack warehouse with capacity for 5,844 pallets. The second is dedicated to picking and contains shelving for 480,000 boxes. Together, they support a distribution network spanning more than 80 countries.

Online expansion reshapes operations

Multi brand footwear stores remain Gioseppo’s main sales channel, but its distribution model now also includes company owned shops in Spain, franchises and retail spaces inside major chains. Since 2023, digital transformation and the launch of its online store have added further complexity to order fulfilment.

For warehouse teams, combining these channels can resemble directing traffic from several roads into one terminal. Each order may enter through a different route, but inventory allocation, picking and dispatch must still remain coordinated.

“Our goal is to guarantee that every customer enjoys the same shopping experience, no matter which channel they choose,” said José Miguel Navarro, the company’s vice president and cofounder.

The updated Easy WMS infrastructure is designed to reduce the risk of technology becoming outdated while improving system security and availability. This is particularly important for an operation that must process orders continuously across several sales channels and markets.

Growth from family business

Gioseppo began as a small family owned footwear company in Spain before developing an international presence. Its logistics network has evolved alongside that growth, moving from support for traditional wholesale distribution towards a model that also handles direct consumer orders.

The software upgrade gives the company a single point for coordinating orders from all channels. It also supports the different storage roles of the two Elche warehouses, linking pallet inventory with the box level picking operation required for individual orders.

The company said the modernised platform will support expansion while maintaining fast and consistent fulfilment for wholesale, retail and ecommerce customers.
