Hapag-Lloyd, in collaboration with the renowned transport company DB Schenker, recently accomplished a remarkable feat by successfully transporting an extraordinary out-of-gauge cargo from Santos, Brazil to the destination port of Houston, Texas in the United States. The cargo in question consisted of two massive aircraft wings, each weighing over 6,000 kilograms.
To ensure the safe and efficient transport of these oversized wings, Hapag-Lloyd employed a carefully devised strategy. The cargo was loaded onto a single flatbed, ingeniously comprised of seven flat racks. This innovative loading method was chosen to optimize the utilization of stowage space on board the vessel, allowing for maximum efficiency during the journey.
Prior to the execution of the operation, Hapag-Lloyd’s dedicated Special Cargo team, in close coordination with personnel at the ports of departure and destination, meticulously analyzed the entire scenario. This thorough analysis was conducted to guarantee a seamless and hassle-free process, minimizing any potential risks or complications that might arise during the transportation of such extraordinary cargo.
