Hareket to Handle Transport and Assembly for Oman’s Second-Largest Wind Farm

2 October 2025

Heavy Lifting Expertise Crosses Borders

Türkiye’s Hareket Heavy Lifting and Project Transportation has taken on a major assignment in Oman: the transportation, installation, and assembly of 36 wind turbines for what will become the country’s second-largest wind power plant.

The company, with nearly seven decades of experience, will begin operations in November and expects completion by March 2026. Each turbine blade stretches 91 meters—the longest ever transported in Oman. The journey, from Duqm Port to the Nimr Site, will cover 387 kilometers of demanding terrain.

How do you move something that long across a desert? It’s not just a matter of trucks and cranes, but of engineering, planning, and logistics that factor in every bend, incline, and crossing.

A Measured Contribution to Global Energy

Speaking about the project, CEO Abdullah Altunkum put Hareket’s role in context:
“Thanks to our 68 years of experience and strategic investments, we are taking on major roles in projects across three continents and diverse geographies. To date, Hareket has contributed to projects providing 6,108.95 MW of energy… This project, which will become Oman’s second-largest wind power plant upon completion, is proof that Hareket is becoming an increasingly influential player in the global arena.”

Altunkum’s figures translate to something more tangible: renewable energy projects supported by Hareket already supply electricity to an estimated 5 million households.

Global Footprint, Regional Impact

Hareket is headquartered in Istanbul but operates far beyond Türkiye’s borders. The company maintains offices in the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tanzania, Senegal, and Ukraine. Its services stretch across Asia, Africa, and Europe, covering everything from turnkey renewable energy solutions to assembly and installation for sectors such as petrochemical, oil and gas, nuclear, infrastructure, and shipbuilding.

When a company can lift nuclear plant components in one country and transport wind turbine blades across deserts in another, you start to see how niche expertise becomes a global necessity.

Rankings that Reflect Scale

In an industry where size and capability are often measured in charts and rankings, Hareket has earned its place. According to the International Cranes and Specialized Transport list (IC T50 2025), the company ranks:

  • 1st in Türkiye
  • 4th in Europe
  • 15th worldwide in total transport capacity of specialized equipment

Meanwhile, in the IC100 2025 list for crane companies by lifting capacity, Hareket holds:

  • 1st in Türkiye
  • 8th in Europe
  • 29th globally

These figures may seem abstract until you consider the sheer weight and dimensions involved. Moving and lifting components that rival the size of skyscrapers is not an everyday job.

For Oman, this wind project marks another step toward diversifying energy sources. For Hareket, it’s one more marker in its journey of international projects that push the limits of what heavy lifting and project logistics can achieve.
