On February 14 2023, Hollandia Infra and other parties were involved in a challenging project. The “Renovation Haringvliet brug” project reached a significant milestone as the newly produced 725-tonne bridge trap was successfully tilted and placed onto the frame of the SPMT cars, with the aid of the floating buck “Matador 3”. This colossal job was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team, including the engineers and skilled employees of Bonn & Mees.
The construction of a bridge trap (bridge valve) typically takes place upside down to enable welding on the bottom of the bridge. To strengthen the bridge, beams and troughs are installed under the driving deck. Once this work is complete, the entire structure must be tilted to allow for work on the driving deck side. Due to the enormous dimensions and weight, this tilting operation requires complex calculations and unique auxiliary structures, making it a major milestone in any project. The successful completion of this operation for the Haringvliet bridge is a crowning achievement and adds to the excitement of the project.
