Intergis Co. Ltd Orders Konecranes Gottwald ESP.5 Mobile Harbor Crane for Port of Busan

Intergis Co. Ltd has recently made a significant move to enhance its operational efficiency at the Port of Busan by ordering a Konecranes Gottwald ESP.5 Mobile Harbor Crane. This investment aims to boost the company’s general cargo and bulk handling capacity while simultaneously lowering local emissions. The new Generation 6 crane, ordered in the second quarter of 2024, is scheduled for delivery in early 2025.

Intergis, a prominent logistics provider operating at six commercial harbors across South Korea, including the country’s largest port in Busan, is gearing up for an anticipated increase in bulk and cargo traffic. The addition of this advanced crane is set to improve the port’s capacity to handle the growing market demands. Dong Ho Park, CEO of Intergis, emphasized the strategic importance of this acquisition. “The Port of Busan is fast becoming very important for international trade. With the addition of this new crane, we can handle whatever our market demands. Not only that, its electric drive will both reduce our fuel consumption and help the port meet its goal of creating an eco-friendly commercial waterfront. And we really appreciate Konecranes’ continuous local service support,” Park noted.

Konecranes has been a long-standing partner for Intergis, known for providing reliable and efficient equipment. Jerry Fann, Sales Director for Port Solutions at Konecranes, highlighted the importance of their relationship. “Intergis approached us asking for equipment delivering smooth, efficient operations with the minimal amount of downtime – and with reduced emissions as well. Konecranes has been a trusted Intergis partner for years and is pleased to continue this relationship, backed by our long-term service agent Kilwoo,” Fann said.

This purchase is part of Konecranes’ Ecolifting™ initiative, which aims to enhance the environmental benefits of their products and services while reducing carbon footprints. From optimizing diesel drives to hybridization and fully electrified fleets, Konecranes is committed to doing more with less. Their focus on sustainability and efficiency is a key factor in their industry leadership.

The ongoing redevelopment of the Port of Busan makes this acquisition timely. As the port evolves into a crucial hub for international trade, the integration of the new Generation 6 crane will be instrumental in meeting future logistical challenges. The crane’s electric drive not only aligns with Intergis’s sustainability goals but also supports the broader environmental objectives of the port.

Intergis’s strategic investment in the Konecranes Gottwald ESP.5 Mobile Harbor Crane is a clear indication of their commitment to enhancing operational capacity while promoting eco-friendly practices. As the port continues to develop, the new crane will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient and sustainable cargo handling.
