The Supervisory Board of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has named Jeroen Eijsink as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 October 2025. He will succeed outgoing CEO Angela Titzrath, who steps down after nearly a decade at the helm.
The appointment marks a significant leadership transition for one of Europe’s leading logistics and terminal operators. With a career spanning over 25 years in the transport and logistics sector, Jeroen Eijsink brings both breadth and depth of experience to the top post at HHLA, just as the company navigates a transformative phase amid changing trade flows, digitalization, and growing environmental regulations.
A Dutch national, Eijsink began his professional journey in the digital division of Siemens, before moving to Deutsche Post DHL in 2003. Over the next twelve years, he held a series of leadership roles across Europe, including CEO of DHL Freight Germany and CEO of DHL Freight Benelux & UK. In 2015, he joined U.S.-based logistics giant C.H. Robinson as President Europe, where he spearheaded the company’s expansion in the region. Most recently, he served as CEO of Girteka Group, a major European road freight carrier, leading its strategic repositioning from 2023 onwards.
Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Grube, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HHLA, emphasized the significance of this leadership change, saying: “With Jeroen Eijsink, HHLA is gaining an internationally experienced leader with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities of global logistics. His proven track record in leading and transforming complex organisations, as well as his clear vision for efficiency and innovation, will strengthen HHLA in a crucial phase of its further development.”
Eijsink holds a degree in Business Administration from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Known for his ability to balance operational discipline with strategic foresight, he has built a reputation for driving performance while keeping long-term positioning in focus—an asset likely to resonate at HHLA, which is deeply invested in digital transformation and sustainable port operations.
On his appointment, Jeroen Eijsink commented: “I would like to thank the Supervisory Board for the trust they have placed in me. I look forward to bringing my experience to bear in my role as CEO at HHLA and to driving the company forward in the dynamic environment in which we operate. Together, we will seize the opportunities presented by transformation and further expand HHLA’s position as a key player in European logistics for the benefit of our customers.”
Angela Titzrath, who will leave the company on 30 September 2025, has served as CEO since 2016. Under her leadership, HHLA expanded its intermodal logistics footprint across Central and Eastern Europe, made significant investments in automation technologies, and took notable steps toward climate-neutral operations. Her departure will close a chapter of modernization and international growth for the Hamburg-based company.
The timing of this transition is notable. By October 2025, the global logistics sector is expected to be in the thick of adapting to new EU emissions rules, navigating ongoing geopolitical volatility, and recalibrating around shifting container trade dynamics. As one of Europe’s busiest port logistics operators, HHLA’s performance—and its leadership—will remain under close industry scrutiny.
