Konecranes CEO Anders Svensson to Step Down in July 2025

Konecranes, the global material handling solutions leader, has announced that its President and CEO, Anders Svensson, will be stepping down from his position on July 19, 2025. Svensson, who has led the company since 2023, has decided to pursue a new opportunity outside of Konecranes. The company has already begun the search for his successor.

Anders Svensson‘s departure was confirmed through an official stock exchange release early this morning. The announcement highlighted his impactful two-year tenure, during which he guided Konecranes through a period of strategic transformation and operational growth. Reflecting on his achievements, Pasi Laine, Chairman of the Board, expressed gratitude for Svensson’s contributions.

“Anders has significantly contributed to the success of Konecranes during the past two years,” Laine remarked. “Under his leadership, the company updated its strategy, improved its results, and delivered value for its shareholders. I’m pleased we will continue working together in the coming months.”

Svensson echoed the sentiment, acknowledging the company’s progress during his leadership. “It has been a privilege to lead Konecranes with its excellent Leadership Team and full Board support. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together with all employees and remain fully committed to my role until July,” Svensson stated. His confidence in the team’s ability to continue executing the company’s strategy underscores his faith in Konecranes’ solid foundation.

The company’s proactive approach to leadership transition ensures that business operations and strategic initiatives will continue without disruption. While no potential candidates have been named, the Board of Directors has pledged to find a successor capable of building on the momentum established during Svensson’s term.

With a workforce of approximately 16,700 professionals spanning over 50 countries, Konecranes serves a diverse range of industries, from manufacturing to ports. In 2023, the company achieved group sales of €4.0 billion, reinforcing its position as a trusted name in material handling solutions.

As the news of Svensson’s departure circulates, the industry will undoubtedly keep a close watch on how Konecranes navigates this leadership change. After all, leadership in such a dynamic global business is akin to piloting a ship—each decision steers the course of the entire fleet.
