Konecranes Delivers Precision Crane Systems for Aircraft Maintenance at Subang Airport

Konecranes has secured a key order to supply advanced crane systems for aircraft maintenance operations at Malaysia’s Subang Airport, as part of a major infrastructure project led by Impeccable Vintage Properties (IVP), a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad.

The contract, finalized in 2024, calls for a full-scale integrated crane system installation inside Hangar 3 at the IVP Complex. The equipment, designed specifically for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations, will be delivered later this year or early in 2026.

The supply package includes two tele-platform units, five suspension crane bridges, two service trolleys, as well as runway structures and power lines. What makes this setup stand out is its adaptability to the precision needs of MRO. The tele-platforms can lift up to 500 kg and the trolleys can manage loads of up to 10 tons—both capable of moving along crane bridges fitted with latching mechanisms to allow smooth transitions across maintenance bays.

Mohd Fuad Sharuji, CEO of Impeccable Vintage Properties (IVP), pointed to the operational value of this partnership: “We are pleased to collaborate with Konecranes to install a state-of-the-art tele-platform system at our IVP Complex in Subang Airport. With Konecranes’ proven expertise and advanced technology, we’re integrating a robust solution that enhances accessibility and safety while supporting efficient MRO operations.”

The tailored solution reflects Konecranes’ capabilities in engineering for specialized environments. In the words of Dinesh Nair, Country Director at Konecranes Material Handling (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, “This delivery highlights Konecranes’ capabilities in challenging and unique environments such as aerospace MRO. Our crane systems, including tele-platforms, are engineered for precision and performance in demanding applications.”

Beyond meeting current operational needs, the investment aligns with Malaysia’s broader ambition to solidify its role as a regional aerospace hub. It also shows how infrastructure-led innovation—when paired with advanced lifting technology—can quietly reshape aviation support services from the ground up.
