Liburnia Poland Delivers 115-Ton Gearbox to Antwerp in Complex Cross-Border Move

A recent project by the Polish division of Liburnia Group has caught the attention of logistics professionals, following the successful delivery of a 115-ton gearbox from Poland to the Port of Antwerp, Belgium. This wasn’t just another haul — it was a tightrope act of coordination, precision, and logistical foresight, requiring everything from detailed route surveys to port-side handling.

A heavyweight in every sense

The unit itself measured 27.5 meters long, 4.1 meters wide, and 4 meters high. Loaded on a specialized trailer with a 4+12 axle configuration, the total transport weight came in at 165 tons. That’s not something you casually drive across borders. It demands weeks of groundwork: permits across multiple jurisdictions, navigating route constraints, bypassing structural limitations, and aligning every part of the journey with the client’s delivery timeline.

The scope of the operation was made even more challenging by the sheer dimensions of the load. Oversized transports like this one often mean road closures, night driving, and special escort services. Every kilometer had to be carefully mapped, especially when detours were involved due to local infrastructure constraints.

Hands-on project execution

At the helm of the move was Radosław Bednarczyk, Project Manager at Liburnia Poland, who led the operation from planning through final unloading at the Belgian port. According to internal sources, the execution went as planned, without incident or delay — a testament to the preparatory legwork and on-the-ground expertise of the team involved.
