Liebherr Unveils Upgraded K Series Cranes with Enhanced Features and Intelligent Systems

Liebherr has introduced significant upgrades to its well-established K series of bottom-slewing fast-erecting cranes, ensuring they remain future-ready and meet the evolving demands of construction sites worldwide. The latest improvements include intelligent assistance systems that boost efficiency and safety while maintaining the series’ renowned versatility and performance.

The K series cranes have been a fixture on construction sites for years, known for their adaptability and reliability. Liebherr’s latest facelift includes the introduction of the 43 K, 61 K, 91 K, and an updated version of the 125 K, all equipped with cutting-edge features to enhance operational efficiency. With the integration of five intelligent assistance systems, these cranes now offer smart functions such as sway-free load lifting without diagonal pull, improving safety for personnel and sensitive loads. Additionally, semi-automated lifts streamline operations, making them easier to use.

Despite the advanced new features, Liebherr has retained the series’ key capabilities, such as variable hook heights and superior maneuverability in confined spaces. The familiar Speed2Lift, Load-Plus, and Micromove functions continue to provide fast lifting speeds, increased jib head lifting capacity, and precise load positioning. Notably, the updated crane names now reflect their respective lifting capacities according to the Load-Plus system.

A major highlight of the upgraded K series is the introduction of Liebherr’s new Control 5 crane control system. This robust system, already featured in the L series, consists of the Liebherr Display 5 and I/O modules, offering durability and ease of use across various construction applications. Furthermore, the cranes are now equipped with the Tower Crane Operating System 2 (TC OS 2), which includes an intuitive menu interface featuring standardized symbols and icons. The addition of a universal radio control system across the K and L series simplifies operations further.

Each model in the upgraded K series caters to specific project needs. The 43 K, the most compact in the lineup, offers eleven hook heights with a maximum hook height of 30.2 meters and a radius of 35 meters, succeeding the 34 K model. The 61 K, replacing the 53 K, brings enhanced performance with a hook height of 33.4 meters and a maximum radius of 43 meters, now featuring a luffed position of up to 30° for increased on-site flexibility.

For larger-scale projects, the 91 K serves as a versatile solution, following the successful 81 K.1, making it an ideal choice for both multi-occupancy and industrial applications. At the top end of the series, the 125 K remains the most powerful, blending the strengths of a top-slewing crane with the mobility of a fast-erecting crane. It boasts a maximum hook height of 41.5 meters, a radius of 55 meters, and an impressive lifting capacity of 8,000 kilograms.
