A.P. Moller – Maersk has appointed Scott Elliott as Regional President for Asia Pacific, formalizing a leadership transition in one of the world’s most strategically important logistics markets as the company seeks to accelerate growth across global trade lanes.
The appointment, announced on June 23, follows Elliott’s tenure as interim Regional President since January 2026. The move places a veteran logistics executive with more than three decades of finance and operational experience at the helm of a region that accounts for a significant share of global manufacturing, exports, and containerized trade.
Asia Pacific remains central to Maersk’s long term strategy as supply chains continue to evolve amid shifting trade patterns, geopolitical uncertainty, sustainability requirements, and growing demand for integrated logistics services. The leadership appointment provides continuity at a time when customers across manufacturing, retail, energy, and industrial sectors are seeking greater supply chain resilience.
Veteran Logistics Executive Takes Permanent Role
Elliott joined Maersk in 2020 and most recently served as Regional Chief Financial Officer for Asia Pacific before assuming interim leadership responsibilities earlier this year.
Prior to joining the Danish shipping and logistics group, he held the positions of President and Division CFO for Global Forwarding at Toll Global in Singapore. Earlier in his career, Elliott occupied senior finance and general management roles at CEVA Logistics across the United States, China, the Netherlands, and Australia.
The combination of operational, commercial, and financial leadership across multiple international markets is expected to support Maersk’s efforts to deepen customer relationships and expand integrated logistics offerings throughout the region.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Elliott described Asia Pacific as the world’s largest regional economy and a key driver of global trade, adding that he looked forward to strengthening partnerships with customers and supporting their growth ambitions.
Asia Pacific Remains Critical to Maersk’s Growth Strategy
The appointment comes as Asia Pacific continues to serve as a major engine of global commerce, connecting manufacturing hubs in China, Southeast Asia, India, Japan, South Korea, and Australia with consumer and industrial markets worldwide.
For container carriers, freight forwarders, ports, and project logistics providers, the region remains at the center of many of the world’s busiest trade corridors. Demand for integrated transport solutions, warehousing, customs services, and end to end supply chain visibility has increased as shippers seek greater control over cargo flows.
Maersk has increasingly positioned itself as an integrated logistics provider rather than solely an ocean carrier, investing in logistics networks, warehousing capacity, digital platforms, and inland transportation services to connect supply chains across multiple modes of transport.
Finance Leadership Search Underway
Alongside Elliott’s appointment, Maersk confirmed that the process of selecting a permanent Regional Head of Finance for Asia Pacific is ongoing.
The company operates in more than 130 countries and employs approximately 100,000 people worldwide. It continues to pursue its target of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its business by 2040 through investments in new vessel technologies and reduced greenhouse gas emission fuels.
The leadership change provides continuity in Asia Pacific as Maersk advances its integrated logistics strategy across one of the most important regions for global containerized trade and supply chain development.
