Mammoet has been pivotal in the assembly of the 414 MW Manzanillo Power Land thermoelectric plant in the Dominican Republic. As one of three new power plants under development near Manzanillo, this gas-fired facility is a key component of the country’s push to meet its burgeoning energy needs.

When approached to assist, Mammoet’s team wasted no time in mobilizing their expertise. Upon arrival, they deployed a 700-ton gantry system to handle the installation of the plant’s heaviest components. The centerpiece of the operation was a 317-ton gas turbine generator, which required meticulous handling. It was first skidded an impressive 18 meters—a logistical dance akin to threading a needle with a crane—before being lifted and precisely positioned on its foundation.

Such a feat is not just a technical accomplishment but a reflection of the engineering choreography Mammoet is known for. The gantry system ensured both the safety and accuracy needed for handling such colossal machinery. Beyond just setting up heavy components, the team’s involvement underscores the critical role that specialized logistics firms play in supporting global energy transitions.
