Recognition Highlights Safe Navigation Standards
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines announced that the woodchip carrier HK DELIGHT has received the Japan Federation of Pilots’ Associations Best Quality Ship Award for fiscal year 2025, extending the company’s winning streak to five consecutive years.
The award is presented annually to vessels operating in Japanese pilotage districts that demonstrate high standards in navigation safety and environmental protection. Out of roughly 24,000 ships requesting pilotage services across Japan during the fiscal year, only 10 vessels were selected.

The federation said HK DELIGHT stood out for its navigation equipment, safety measures, pilot boarding facilities, and the cooperative approach of its crew during pilotage operations.

The recognition also reflects MOL’s broader safety strategy under its “Safety Vision” program, which forms part of the company’s “BLUE ACTION 2035” Phase 2 management plan.
According to MOL, the award demonstrates continued industry recognition for the group’s operational safety standards and vessel management practices. The company added that highly skilled captains and onboard crews played a central role in supporting safe pilotage operations throughout Japanese waters.
MOL said it will continue focusing on marine safety and environmental protection as part of its long term operational strategy.
