NL Hydrogen and Hydrogen Denmark Sign MoU to Strengthen Hydrogen Cooperation

In a significant move towards expanding the hydrogen economy in Europe, NL Hydrogen and Hydrogen Denmark have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to foster closer collaboration between the Danish and Dutch hydrogen sectors, providing a platform for the two nations to work together on advancing hydrogen technologies and infrastructure.

The MoU was signed during the official visit of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands to Denmark, highlighting the strong diplomatic support for this partnership. Both monarchs, King Willem-Alexander and King Frederik X of Denmark, were present when the MoU was signed by Marcel Galjee, Chairman of NL Hydrogen, and Tejs Laustsen Jensen, CEO of Hydrogen Denmark.

The signing of this agreement represents a commitment to a joint effort in accelerating hydrogen development, which is seen as a key pillar in the transition towards net-zero economies in Europe. As both countries are already making significant strides in hydrogen production, the MoU will help create new opportunities for cooperation in hydrogen infrastructure and its application in industries like green shipping, which faces particular challenges in decarbonization.

Marcel Galjee, Chairman of NL Hydrogen, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are very pleased to have signed this MoU with Hydrogen Denmark. Collaboration is crucial to advancing hydrogen initiatives, especially within Europe. In the Netherlands, we are already working diligently across all fronts of the hydrogen value chain, from production to end use. Through this partnership, we look forward to taking further steps together to reduce carbon emissions in our countries.”

Tejs Laustsen Jensen, CEO of Hydrogen Denmark, echoed these sentiments, stating: “We are very happy to have signed this MoU with our colleagues in the Netherlands. Our two countries are working systematically towards decarbonizing our societies, and we see very similar needs for hydrogen as a path to reach net-zero economies. We look forward to strengthening the bonds and stimulating cooperation between Denmark and the Netherlands, focusing on hydrogen infrastructure and hard-to-abate sectors such as green shipping.”

The cooperation between NL Hydrogen and Hydrogen Denmark is expected to bolster the development of hydrogen technologies, including storage, transportation, and distribution. These efforts are crucial in building a robust hydrogen infrastructure that can support various industries, particularly those in need of green energy solutions.
