Port of Dover Enhances Operations with New Liebherr Crane

The Port of Dover has taken a significant step towards boosting its operational efficiency with the acquisition of a new Liebherr crane. This addition, capable of functioning in wind speeds up to a force 9 severe gale (75-88 km/h), ensures that vessels can be unloaded in almost any weather condition throughout the year.

Emma Whelan, Business Development Manager at the Port of Dover, expressed her appreciation for the collaboration: “The Cargo team would like to extend thanks to Liebherr for their professionalism and contribution to the extensive programme of investment that the terminal is undergoing to further enhance its deep-sea capabilities and support our robust eco-lens objectives.”

The new crane is the port’s third LHM crane from Liebherr, underscoring a long-standing partnership built on trust and a mutual commitment to excellence. Rob Alexander, Sales Manager for maritime cranes at Liebherr Great Britain, remarked on this milestone: “We would like to thank the Port of Dover for their continued trust and partnership with Liebherr. The purchase of its third LHM crane is a testament to our shared commitment to excellence and innovation in port operations. We look forward to further supporting the Port in enhancing its capabilities and achieving new milestones.”

This strategic investment is part of a broader effort by the Port of Dover to enhance its deep-sea capabilities, ensuring that it remains a critical hub for maritime activities. The advanced features of the Liebherr crane not only improve operational efficiency but also align with the port’s sustainability goals, reflecting a commitment to eco-friendly practices.

By investing in cutting-edge equipment, the Port of Dover continues to solidify its position as a leading port, capable of handling challenging conditions and supporting a wide range of maritime activities. The collaboration with Liebherr highlights the importance of strong partnerships in achieving operational excellence and innovation.
