HHLA Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG has taken the lead in establishing a private 5G mobile network at its HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder GmbH (CTA). This initiative falls under the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport’s DigiTest program, which supports the implementation of innovative digital infrastructure. With a budget of €2.3 million, the project is set to run until mid-2026, creating a dedicated testing ground for next-generation port logistics applications.
The PROCON-5G pilot aims to optimize terminal operations through ultra-fast response times and high-bandwidth connectivity. By enabling real-time data transfer, the network is expected to significantly improve communication resilience within the terminal.
