Puma Energy launches Puerto Rico bunker supply across island ports

Puma Energy has started supplying marine bunkers across Puerto Rico through its local entity, Puerto Rico Energy LLC, expanding fuel delivery options for vessels calling at the island’s ports.

The company said bunkers would be delivered by barge, pipeline or truck, depending on the port, berth and operational requirements. The combination allows Puma Energy to serve vessels both alongside marine terminals and at locations without direct pipeline access.

The service is supported by terminal storage, local distribution infrastructure and commercial staff in Puerto Rico. International sourcing will be handled through Puma Energy’s wider supply network.

Puma Energy is positioning the operation as a single point of supply for shipowners, operators and bunker traders arranging fuel deliveries during Puerto Rico port calls. The model could reduce the need to coordinate separate suppliers and transport providers across different locations.

Puerto Rico sits along major routes connecting the Caribbean, the US East Coast, the Gulf of Mexico and the Panama Canal. Its ports serve container ships, tankers, bulk carriers, cruise vessels and regional cargo services, creating demand for flexible bunker delivery.

The company did not disclose anticipated sales volumes, pricing, individual port coverage or the marine fuel grades available at each location. It said the operation would offer a full range of marine fuels, although availability may vary according to the delivery point and vessel requirements.

Puma Energy already operates fuel storage and distribution infrastructure in Puerto Rico. The new bunker offering extends that local footprint directly into the marine market, with delivery arranged through the same supplier across the island.
