Rhenus Project Logistics recently organised the transportation and lashing of several distillery tanks from Germany to Northern Ireland, via Rotterdam.
As part of the project transport for GEA Brewery Systems, the distillery tanks intended for whiskey production at the Old Bushmills distillery, were loaded onto an inland vessel at the port of Kitzingen. Rhenus Project Logistics organised the transport to Karlstadt, where an energy storage tank was added and brought the tanks to Rotterdam.
Before setting off on the last leg to County Antrim in Northern Ireland, the tanks weighing 4,000 tonnes were loaded from an inland vessel onto a BBC Chartering vessel in Rotterdam and sea fastened.
“There was a great deal to coordinate, ranging from planning the route to selecting the mode of transport and even the precise timing. This was the only way to guarantee that the special equipment for whiskey production would arrive at precisely the right time at the building site, where the Distillery, which makes whiskey, was being enlarged.”
