German crane and transport company Rothmund GmbH und Montage has taken delivery of its fourth LTM 1230-5.1 from Liebherr, reaffirming its trust in the 230-tonne all-rounder mobile crane and its ability to perform across a wide range of construction and industrial tasks.
The latest addition underscores Rothmund’s strategic focus on versatility and performance in its crane operations. Since 2020, the Pforzheim-based operator has invested repeatedly in the LTM 1230-5.1 model, favoring its 75-metre telescopic boom and advanced load-handling features like VarioBase® and VarioBallast®.
Heiko Brückner, Managing Director at Rothmund GmbH, explained the reasoning behind the latest acquisition: “We’ve bought our fourth LTM 1230-5.1 because this crane simply represents the ideal concept for us. With variable outrigger positioning and a modular ballast system, we’re able to use it across an exceptionally broad range of jobs. Its lifting capacities and long boom make it an all-rounder — and a popular one at that.”
The LTM 1230-5.1 has proved especially effective for projects requiring high flexibility, including concrete and steel construction, tower crane erection, and complex industrial jobs. For companies like Rothmund, which operates in both urban and industrial environments, the crane’s design helps to reduce setup times and adapt quickly to spatial constraints.
Since receiving its first LTM 1230-5.1 in 2020 — just as the global pandemic disrupted markets — the company moved quickly to expand its fleet. A second unit followed within six months. With the latest delivery, Rothmund now runs four LTM 1230-5.1 cranes and a total of more than 20 mobile units across its operations.
Ten Liebherr Cranes Delivered in Just Five Years
Beyond the LTM 1230-5.1 model, Rothmund has shown a clear pattern of loyalty to Liebherr. Since 2021, the company has purchased ten new mobile cranes from the manufacturer. The decision is driven not only by the machines’ technical performance but also by their resale value and the after-sales support that accompanies them.
“What really makes us choose Liebherr is the service,” Brückner noted. “Their customer support is professional and fast, and the spare parts supply is reliable. Just as importantly, all Liebherr cranes follow the same operating logic. That means our crane operators can easily switch between different machines, regardless of size.”
That ease of operation plays a critical role in optimizing labor efficiency — a particularly relevant point for crane operators dealing with varying job types and shifting project timelines.
A Growing Heavy Lift Service Provider
Founded in 1982 in the Pforzheim region of southwestern Germany, Rothmund GmbH began as a small crane company. Within 18 months of its launch, the company had already put three cranes into operation. Five years in, it had scaled to five units. Today, Rothmund operates more than 20 mobile cranes, along with an extensive portfolio of specialist transport and lifting equipment.
The company has evolved into a full-service provider for heavy-duty and machinery transport, including complex business relocations. Its fleet now includes heavy-duty crawler transporters, air cushion systems, loading cranes, and miniature crawler cranes — signaling a shift from simple lifting services to multi-modal logistics capabilities.
With the acquisition of yet another LTM 1230-5.1, Rothmund continues to reinforce its position in the German mobile crane sector, emphasizing not just volume but a commitment to standardized, flexible, and operator-friendly machinery.
