SAL Heavy Lift has once again showcased its capabilities in handling complex cargo logistics, successfully managing the loading and transportation of several Konecranes Gottwald ESP Mobile Harbor Cranes. This impressive operation involved two of their vessels, MV Paula and MV Annegret, at the bustling port of Antwerp, with cranes bound for destinations across the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe.
MV Paula took charge of a trio of dismantled Konecranes Gottwald ESP 7B cranes, destined for Ras al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The heaviest of these cranes weighed in at an impressive 242.5 tons, but the team handled the cargo with precision and efficiency, ensuring it was securely loaded and ready for its journey. This type of operation is no small feat, as the dismantled state of the cranes still presents logistical challenges in terms of securing the individual components and ensuring balance during transport.
Meanwhile, MV Annegret took on a more diverse set of tasks, handling multiple crane deliveries across different destinations. One fully assembled ESP 7 crane, tipping the scales at 379 tons, was shipped to Bejaia, Algeria. For anyone in the industry, transporting such a weight in an assembled state requires both meticulous planning and skilled execution to avoid any mishaps. But that wasn’t the end of the story for MV Annegret. The vessel also transported a fully assembled ESP 8B crane, weighing a staggering 483.5 tons, to Sokhna, Egypt. This crane’s sheer size and weight would have made it one of the most challenging pieces of cargo on the vessel’s journey.
In addition to these fully assembled units, MV Annegret also took responsibility for delivering two more dismantled cranes. The ESP 8 was bound for Iskenderun, Turkey, while the ESP 7 was destined for Civitavecchia, Italy. These dismantled units, although more manageable than their fully assembled counterparts, still required detailed coordination and expertise to ensure every part remained intact and arrived safely.
