SAL-Intermarine Expands Fleet with MV Eva and MV Ella: A Game-Changer for Global Trade

The SAL-Intermarine fleet is making waves yet again. With the addition of two new eco-optimized F300-type multipurpose (MPP) vessels—MV Eva and MV Ella—the alliance has firmly reinforced its position as a leader in global project and breakbulk cargo logistics. These sleek, eco-friendly ships are more than just vessels; they’re a testament to how innovation and sustainability can drive the maritime industry forward.

MV Eva officially joined the fleet as 2023 was drawing to a close. Under the command of Captain Mykhailo Makushenko, the vessel’s first operations were seamless. The handover took place in Gros-Cacouna, Canada, with Henning Pulmer on-site and Ruediger Wentzel managing logistics from Bremen. Just two days later, MV Eva was on her maiden voyage, transporting 15 massive windmill blades from Gaspe, Canada, to Corpus Christi, Texas. You can almost picture these colossal blades—a symbol of renewable energy—being carefully loaded onto the ship, emphasizing the synergy between sustainable cargo and eco-optimized vessels.

But that wasn’t the only exciting development. The new year brought with it another milestone: the long-term charter of MV Ella, previously known as MV Pia. MV Ella is already off to a strong start, with her inaugural mission locked in. She will deliver an impressive 3,700 tons of steel plates from Mobile, Alabama, to Shanghai, China—a route that underscores the critical role of breakbulk shipping in connecting global industries.

What makes these vessels special? For one, their design. Both MV Eva and MV Ella boast eco-optimized features, allowing them to operate with greater efficiency and reduced environmental impact. They join their sister ships, MV Industrial Ursula and MV Industrial Katharina, as part of a growing fleet that demonstrates the JSI Alliance’s commitment to modern, versatile, and sustainable shipping solutions. This approach isn’t just about meeting current demand; it’s about shaping the future of global trade.

The addition of these vessels strengthens the alliance’s ability to handle diverse cargoes, from renewable energy components to heavy industrial goods. It’s a reminder that behind every shipment is a meticulous choreography of planning and execution—a dance that SAL-Intermarine performs with finesse. These ships aren’t just tools; they’re enablers of economic growth and progress, connecting regions, industries, and people in ways that truly matter.

As the JSI Alliance continues to grow its fleet, its impact on the maritime industry remains undeniable. Whether it’s windmill blades bound for Texas or steel plates destined for China, MV Eva and MV Ella are setting the stage for a new chapter in sustainable logistics.
